The Doctoral Degree and Professional Nursing Practice The role of a DNP-prepared nurse is multifaceted; they can serve as nurse educators, policy and legislation advocates, direct nursing care supervisors, or advanced practice nurses responsible for tracking, installing, and monitoring initiatives to improve nursing and healthcare delivery (Walden, 2023). When comparing DNP-prepared nurses to other APRNs, employers stated that the DNP-prepared nurses had more vital assessment skills and were better able to focus on system-level issues, including quality of care and finance. DNP-prepared nurses were unique in the following ways; better understanding of the evidence and clinical-based guidelines. Focus on the translation of evidence into practice. Knowledge of health policy and population health (Beeber et al., 2019). Studies indicate that DNP graduates possess a wide array of knowledge and can translate that knowledge quickly and effectively to benefit patients in the daily demands of the practice environment (AACN, 2006). My motivation to pursue a DNP is to have a meaningful career, an increased desire to participate in social change activities, and improve my confidence and skill set. I aim to improve practice and care outcomes in my organization and the community through evidence-based practice. Employers have reported that DNP-prepared nurses worked to improve organizational outcomes by identifying system-level problems and proposing new care delivery models
